Can I require that users of my templates include my copyright notice on their pages?


No. These templates are free to our users.

We do not require anything of our users, however we have found that most are happy to give credit to the template creator and to Free Site Templates.

The user should include their own copyright notice on their pages, not the designer of the layout. They need to protect their content and the overall final look of their site.

Can I require users to include a link to my site or my email address.


No. These templates are completely free to our users.

Most users will happily give credit to the designer of the template, but we do not require it.

Why do you modiy the templates I upload?


We modify them to include the suggested information, such as a copyright notice and privacy statement link, in the location that the user of the template will want to display that information. The copyright notice on the pages also protect our rights while the templates are displayed on our servers.

Additionally, we place a banner advertisement on the template page for two reasons:

1. We are advertising supported and can only afford to offer free services such as the templates by displaying banner advertising.

2. Most users will want a banner ad integrated into their pages, so our placement of a banner serves to help them integrate a banner into their final site.

Is there any way to find out how many people download a template you've contributed?


Currently we do not track the number of downloads for each individual template, however it is a planned feature for later this year.

All together there are about 3,000 templates downloaded each day and the most popular category is Speed Demons.
